Press release of Ms. Chaitra Beerannavar


Ms. Chaitra Beerannavar is a tenure track Faculty of Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Junior Research Fellow, Faculty of Law, Symbiosis International University, Pune. She was awarded with the Sixteenth Dr. D.C. Pavate Memorial Visiting fellowship tenable at the Centre of International Studies/Department of Politics and International Studies, University of Cambridge, U.K.-2016 to study and research on the subject “International Mergers and Acquisition Laws “for a period of four months from the commencement of the Cambridge University Lent Full term in May 2016 . Out of 34 applications including Faculty from Global Jindal Law School and JNU, she won this award. She recently submitted her Ph.D. thesis on ‘A Critical Study of Reverse Mergers as a method of going public : A comparative Study of U.S., China and India” under the guidance of Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, Director, SLS, Pune and Dean, Faculty of Law, Symbiosis International University, Pune.

Dr.D.C.Pavate Memorial Fellowships in Cambridge are offered in collaboration with Karnataka University, Dharwad and Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, UK. They offer three visiting fellowships annually for a period of four months to be held at the Centre of International Studies / Department of Politics and International Studies, Judge Business School and the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics / Department of Material Sciences and Metallurgy / Department of Chemistry / Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge.

Ms. Chaitra completed her LL.B. (Merit) in 2010 under Karnataka University with Two Gold Medals for having secured First Rank at the University and in LL.M. in Business and Corporate Law in 2012 from Symbiosis Law School, Pune was also awarded the "Chancellor's Gold Medal" for standing first in LL.M. as well as honoured with 'Nani Palkhiwala Gold Medal' for academic excellence in 2012. She has participated and presented papers at various National and International Conferences. . Besides, she has ten papers published to her credit and has contributed to number of academic initiatives at SLS, Pune since 2012.
