Deakin University, Australia Commercial Law Study Tour, 2015 at SLS, Pune


Symbiosis Law School, Pune is hosting a delegation of seventeen students and two faculty members from Deakin University, Australia from 10th to 16th of December 2015. 

This week-long Deakin University Commercial Law Study Tour, 2015 was inaugurated today, the 10th of December 2015 in the SLS, Pune, conference room. 

The event started with the screening of a movie on Symbiosis showcasing the history and rich heritage of Symbiosis International University. 

Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, Fulbright Scholar;Director, Symbiosis Law School; Dean, Faculty of Law, SIU, welcomed the delegation. She thanked her colleagues and the faculty members from Deakin University for making this collaboration of knowledge exchangea great success for the second time.Dr. Gurpur stated that the ongoing quest of Symbiosis Law School, Pune is to be a destination for students across the world to join us in keeping the flame of knowledge burning. She further highlighted the importance of creating professionals and lawyers that could work in all parts of the world and remarked on how our college grooms its students to become globally competent legal professionals by staying true to the evergreen motto of the college 'Courage, Care, Competence, Collaboration.' 

Dr. Neera Bhatia, Lecturer, Faculty of Business and Law, Deakin University, Australia, enlightened the gathering about the plethora of activities which are conducted across the four campuses of Deakin University emphasizing on their vision to create world graduates. She highlighted their stellar progress at internationalization by mentioning their Business and Law course, as well as informing us that their University has an intake of more than 15,000 students amongst which 8,000 are international students who come from across the globe. Dr. Neera Bhatia further proceeded to provide the students of Symbiosis Law School, Pune, a unique insight into their 'Telstra Trading Room', an initiative taken by Deakin University to provide their students with the experience of working at the stock exchange. She touched upon the innumerable courses offered and gave the students of Symbiosis Law School, Pune, a truly illuminating insight into the working of Deakin University. 

This was followed by an interactive ice breaking session, wherein the students of both colleges let loose a host of questions leading to a highly animated and informative discussion. 

The event ended on a cheerful note with Dr. Aparajita Mohanty, Associate Professor, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, delivering the vote of thanks. The day also witnessed a bright & colorful cultural evening from 4pm to 6pm in the college for the guest.
