Colloquium on Interdisciplinary approach to Intellectual Property


Symbiosis International (Deemed University) through its Intellectual Property Cell, and Symbiosis Law School, Pune through its Tech-Legal Cell organized a one day colloquium on Interdisciplinary approach to Intellectual Property on 25th September 2017.

Resource persons like Mrs. Swapna Sundar, CEO IP Dome, Mr. Rajiv Agarwal, Joint Secretary, DIPP (through a video message), Mr. Vikas Sharma, Dy. Controller of Patents and Designs, Dr. Mohan Dewan of Dewan and Co. and Dr. Geeta Gowri, former member of Competition Commission of India were the resource persons of the colloquium.   

Following were the topics addressed by the resource persons:

  • Intellectual Property & Multi-disciplinary with Practical Application by Mrs. Swapna Sundar
  • Contemporary Developments in IP Governance by video message of Shri Rahiv Aggarwal
  • National, IPR Policy & Judicial Contribution towards IP by Shri Vikas Sharma
  • Interface between IP & Business: Competition Perspective by Dr. Geeta Gouri
  • Intellectual Property in the Digital Era

After the discussion of Multidisciplinary approach of IP and contemporary developments in IP, A Panel discussion was conducted on the topic “Balancing Competition and IP in the digital era”.

An activity on negotiation was conducted by Dr. Rupal Rautdesai, Associate Professor, SLS Pune, wherein the participants were divided into groups and were given a fictitious problem of negotiation. Based on the given problem the groups were supposed to list out strong and weak points and participate in a negotiation simulation. 

Dr. Yogesh Patil, Head, Research, SCRI concluded the session by a vote of thanks. 40 students attended and actively participated in the colloquium.
