sls-p WINS 7th FICCI HIGHER EDUCATION EXCELLENCE AWARDS-2021!
Adding to its proud accolades, Symbiosis Law School, Pune (SLS-P), a constituent of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) achieved another milestone in its journey of excellence by winning the prestigious 7th FICCI Higher Education Excellence Award in the category of “Excellence in Internationalization of Education” among 200 participants.
This award has come as recognition of the incessant endeavours of SLS-P towards internationalisation in terms of student and faculty exchange, research collaborations and curricular enrichment under the able leadership of Dr. Shashikala Gurpur, Director, Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Dean, Faculty of Law, Symbiosis International (Deemed University). The other nominees for the prestigious award were Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIT); Satyabhama Institute of Science and Technology; SRM Institute of Science and Technology; a constituent of the Symbiosis International University, Symbiosis Law School, Pune and Vishwakarma Institute of Technology.
Carrying forward the vision of Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Symbiosis Law School, Pune (SLS-P), has center-staged internationalization as a means to incorporate excellence in academics and research. SLS-P has a robust internationalization agenda and measurable output in terms of international projects, collaborative research, international visiting scholars, Scholar in residence distinguished speaker programme, faculty and student mobility, summer schools, distinguished guest lectures, workshops. The Curriculum incorporates a comparative perspective across programmes, is peer reviewed by globally renowned academicians. It is evidenced by the transition of its EU Legal Studies Certificate Course started in the year 2009-10 to 28 courses now various legal disciplines spread across UG and PG with intense academic rigour. With four international projects and partners, from University of Ioannina, Greece, Klaipeda University (KU), Lithuania, Novel Group Sarl (Novel Group), Luxembourg, Southwest university, China (SWU), Shenzhen Polytechnic, China; Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), Cambodia; University of Battambang, Cambodia; Beijing Foreign Studies University (China); Guangdong University Of Foreign Studies (China); The Languages Company Limited (UK); Universite De Versailles Saint-Quentin-En-Yvelines (France) ; Universita Degli Studi Di Catania (Italy); Uniwersytet Jagiellonski (Poland), Banasthali Vidyapith, India (BV), O.P. Jindal Global University (India); SLS-P reverberates towards capacity building, curriculum development, mini projects and mobility.
The 7th FICCI Higher Education Excellence Awards 2021, was held on February 25th 2021 with Dr. Suresh Prabhu (India’s Sherpa to G20 and G7 summits and has held ten Cabinet positions, a Member of Parliament for six times of which four years of his tenure as the MP were from Lok Sabha and the other two years from Rajya Sabha) as the Chief Guest and Dr. R.A.Mashelkar (National Research Professor and President, NCL and Global Research Alliance) as the Guest of Honour.
The award ceremony’s another attraction was the “Lifetime Achievement Award” bestowed upon Professor, Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), the living legend, an academician, a visionary and a man who created “Home away from Home” for Foreign students - especially Afro Asian students in the early 1970s (https://siu.edu.in/symbiosis-chancellor.php).
Dr. Shashikala Gurpur in her address during the award ceremony said, “I am extremely delighted and humbled to receive this award on behalf of SLS-P which is part of Symbiosis where winning is a habit, excellence is a culture and internationalization is personified. I am also happy that it is the hard work of the team and generosity of international partners, the openness of learning to which India is opening up in the last two decades and also the constant support of our top management where I am also honoured to have our honourable chancellor receiving award today. I am very happy to acknowledge this award and thank FICCI for an excellent and a very gruelling way of deciding this award and also the best practices that have enriched the landscape of Symbiosis Law School Pune”.
