Guest lecture by Dr. V K Ahuja on Marrakesh Treaty to facilitate access to Published works for Persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise Print Disabled


Symbiosis Law School, Pune organized a Guest Lecture on “Marrakesh Treaty to facilitate access to Published works for Persons who are blind, visually impaired or otherwise Print Disabled” which was delivered by Dr. V. K. Ahuja on 22nd September 2018. 

 

Dr. Ahuja is currently the Department Head of Law Centre-II, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi under the designation of Associate Professor In-charge.

 

The guest lecture was organised for the Master of Law Students who are pursuing their specialisation in Science, Technology, Innovation and IPR. 15 students of the specialisation attended the session. 

 

Dr. Ahuja spoke about how the Marrakesh Treaty dealt with the Human Rights of Visually impaired Persons. He stated that access to knowledge is the key to a good education, successful employment and a fruitful personal life. The right to education has been recognised as a human right under various international instruments. Further Dr. Ahuja also discussed about the meaning of accessible format copy, beneficiary person and other concepts. He also mentioned that India was the first country to sign the Marrakesh Treaty. Overall the students got a very good understanding through his discussion on the topic.
